Muna's life story exemplifies her resilience in overcoming multiple traumatic events throughout various stages of her life. After taking THRC training, despite the challenges she faced in her entire life, she learned how to cope with their aftermath and pite the challenges she faced in her entire life; she learned how to cope with their aftermath and cope with their aftermath, and ultimately found meaning and purpose in her experiences. Her journey led her to a path of healing, hope, and a deeper understanding of the true meaning of life.
THRC training has helped a lot of people heal from their past traumas that were still affecting their lives. It also helped them understand themselves, manage their thoughts and express them in their journey of true healing through Jesus Christ.
“My father and mother left me, but God took me in”
Losing someone that you care about breaks your heart, but losing the dearest person to you makes life meaningless and causes a wound so deep that it’s hard to heal.
Muna experienced this when she lost her father, who was also a brother, supporter, and a friend to her, due to a brain explosion that caused him to die suddenly. 'He was everything to me. When he passed away, I took responsibility for my family and my 5 siblings, especially after my mother got sick. At the age of 17, I left school and started working to support them. It was the beginning of my suffering in life.'
“The War of Liberation” (Lebanese civil war)
In 1990, the war of liberation was taking place in Lebanon. The country suffered from artillery shelling, and a bomb hit their house, causing the death of her mother right in front of her, before she lost her sight for 6 months, and regained it after several surgeries. “I carried her in pieces' she said.
When she recovered from her injuries, she found herself fully responsible for her siblings who are way younger than her. She worked hard to provide for them financially and emotionally. She didn’t give up, even though she did not have love nor support. She also refused to abandon her siblings and fought to keep them safe, trying to keep the promise she made to her parents.
They lived in poverty and deprivation and there was always a feeling of guilt while raising her siblings, providing for them, and teaching them. She felt that she wasn’t doing enough to compensate for the absence of her parents, which put pressure on her.
Muna specialized in cosmetology. She had to work in a difficult and toxic environment that affected her. And because work was necessary, she had to work late and long hours, which exposed her to criticism and bullying from society (because of the nature of her job). Her siblings also had their share of verbal abuse and bullying.
All these traumas affected her mental health and led to a nervous breakdown and the consumption of painkillers. She lost her ability to sleep, so she tried to use her time of rest to work diligently, which brought her success.
She considered that her success changed society’s view of her. “Society shows no mercy when you are weak. But when your name shines, then, society will look at you differently. This stirred up anger and rebellion in me because society was harsh on me when I was in need.”
She often blamed God for all the hardships she was going through.
Due to lack of affection, she rushed into choosing a life partner, which resulted in a failed marriage. Because of that, she lost everything, had a nervous breakdown, and began taking psychotropic drugs “hysterically”, that almost cost her her life.
But when THRC asked her what she thought of her past, she expressed gratitude because she understood that all the hard things she went through, God used them for her good and made her who she is today. Her journey of healing began after her brother became a pastor and minister in a church that embraced and discipled her. She experienced true change after attending the THRC trauma healing training.
“A radical change happened in my life after this training. It gave me great relief and I was able to understand myself and my feelings. Over the past years, I was encouraged to numb my pain, instead of healing it.
I thank God because through THRC I can say that I am healed. I can talk about my past without crying or having a breakdown. The joy of the Lord dwells in me and now I understand why things happened the way they did. I am able to share with others what I learned.”
As she talked, she showed deep emotions with a smile on her face. “I felt like my life flashed before my eyes, from the moment I was born till now. The good times and the bad.” Her perspective on life changed and now she’s able to identify her emotions and understand them.
She concluded by saying that the THRC training, based on the Word of God, was a support to her mentally and spiritually, and it helped her share what she learned with many people from trauma healing groups at church.
“The old Muna is gone. Today, I am a new person.”
