From Brokenness to Family Healing

During one of our learning support group sessions, which is part of our follow-up process, led by a THRC ambassador who is a Sudanese pastor, we witnessed a profound transformation that exemplifies the depth and breadth of our impact.

Pastor Mourad, one of the participants, had recently lost his cousin to suicide. As he opened up to the group, he revealed a history of marital problems stemming from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related anger management issues and anger management issues. His struggle had led him to be physically and verbally abusive with his wife and children, all while battling severe anxiety and depression. Through our journey with him, which includes:

  • Psychological First Aid training
  • Introduction to Bible-based Trauma-focused lay counselling Training
  • Ongoing support and follow-up from our THRC ambassador

Pastor Mourad's life has been radically transformed. He has not only overcome his depression but has also developed healthier ways of dealing with his family. He's become a better father and husband, breaking the cycle of violence in his home.

'I came here broken, hurting those I love the most. Through THRC's training and continued support, I’ve found my journey of healing not just for myself but for my entire family. Now, I can truly be the pastor and father God called me to be.' - Pastor Mourad*

This powerful story demonstrates how trauma healing ministry can create a far-reaching impact– from addressing immediate crises to facilitating long-term healing and family restoration. It shows how our program doesn't just change individuals; it transforms families and strengthens local churches and communities.
